OUA FOOTBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
OFFENCE: Michael Faulds, Western Mustangs, Quarterback
Faulds (Eden Mills, Ont.) set two national records in a 47-0 win over the Toronto Varsity Blues in the regular season finale on Oct. 24. He set an all-time Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) record of 10,811 career passing yards as well as a single-season record of 3,033 passing yards. Faulds was 39-of-52 passing for 550 yards and two touchdowns, scoring once on the ground. Faulds is also the Pioneer Petroleums OUA male athlete of the week.
DEFENCE: Scott McCahill, Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks, Free Safety
The second-year free safety from Kingston, Ont. had a strong game in a must win contest for the Golden Hawks. McCahill, a business major, picked off Queen's Gaels quarterback Danny Brannagan and returned the interception 110 yards for a touchdown as a significant turning point in a 25-13 victory on Oct. 24 over the No. 2-ranked team in the country. McCahill also added 2.5 tackles and a knockdown in the contest.
SPECIAL TEAMS: Chris Mamo, Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks, Kicker/Punter
Mamo (London, Ont.) had an impressive performance against the Queen's Gaels on Oct. 24 as he set a new Wilfrid Laurier record for career scoring with 270 points in a 25-13 upset of the No. 2-ranked team in the country. Mamo had 13 points on the day including three field goals (including a 45-yarder - his longest in his career), two converts and had another single. In addition Mamo added seven punts for 217 yards.
