WARRIORS HUMBLE LANCERS 49-0 IN FOOTBALL
With the loss, the Lancers fall back to 2-2 on the season.
The Warriors got off to a fast start as quarterback Luke Balch passed and ran for a pair of touchdowns to put the home team up 15-0 after one quarter of play.
The second quarter was more of the same as Waterloo added a pair of touchdowns, a field goal and a safety to lead 34-0 at the break.
In the second half, Balch completed his third touchdown pass on the day, a 19-yard strike to receiver Sean Cowie to build their lead to 46-0.
The Lancers, who played most of the game again without starting quarterback Sam Malian who was injured early on, had no answers on offence as they fell to the Warriors.
For Waterloo, Balch completed 15-of-24 passes for 236 yards and three touchdowns to give the Warriors (1-3) their first victory of the season. Running back Matt Socholotiuk carried the ball 21 times for 134 yards.
For Windsor, Dan Carloni finished 6-of-12 passing for 71 yards and two interceptions. Running back Derek Hymers carried the ball eight times for 69 yards.
Next Saturday, the Lancers will return home for Windsor Minor Football Day on Oct. 3 against the No. 5 nationally-ranked Queen's Gaels. Kick-off is set for 1 p.m. All minor football players wearing their team's jersey will get into the game for free. The Warriors travel to Guelph to battle the No. 10 Gryphons.
