OTTAWA LOCKS UP THIRD WITH TWO BIG VICTORIES
Saturday night, it was round two of the Mike Katz - Dave DeAveiro match-up. This time the prodigy won, as DeAveiro's Gee-Gees claimed their second victory of the weekend, 75-49, over Katz's Toronto Varsity Blues. Four Ottawa players reached double digits for the second night in a row, including Marko Jovic and Gregory Sam, who each poured in 13 points. For the Blues, Mike Williams recorded a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds.
With the win, Ottawa clinched third place in the OUA East. The Blues, who fell to the two-time defending OUA and CIS Champion Carleton Ravens Friday night, finished the season in fifth place and will travel to Kingston to take on the Queen's Golden Gaels in East quarter-final action.
YORK FALLS, BUT STILL HOLDS ONTO SECOND PLACE
The York Lions, who had secured second place in the OUA East earlier this season, stumbled against Queen's Friday night, 68-60. Neal Dawson led the Gaels with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Dan Eves netted 18 for the Lions.
Saturday was a match-up against two of the top scorers in the OUA as Eves battled RMC's Kevin Dulude, in York's 67-65 win over the Paladins. Eves, who is second in OUA scoring with 19.36 per game, poured in 30 points, including 5-of-8 from three-point land. It was also a battle of the boards, with Dulude and Lions forward Jordan Foebel owning the top two spots in OUA rebounding this season. Foebel, the league leader with 12.05 rebounds per game, recorded a double-double of 10 points and 12 rebounds. Despite the loss, Dulude, who is third in scoring at 18.86 per game and second in rebounding at 11.24 per game, finished his OUA career with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Dulude scored 37 points and pulled down 16 rebounds, half of them offensive ones, in Friday's 76-68 loss to Laurentian. The fifth-year forward finishes his illustrious career with 1165 career rebounds in 109 games played, a new CIS mark. With the 54 points he tallied in his final two games, Dulude's career scoring total stands at 2092 points, ranking him 2nd all-time in the CIS in career scoring behind Richard Bohne of the University of Calgary (2171 points, 1993-96).
LAURENTIAN HEADS INTO THE PLAYOFFS ON WINNING NOTE
The Laurentian Voyageurs may be the sixth seed in the OUA East, but winning both games this weekend will be great momentum as they enter the quarter-final round against the Ottawa Gee-Gees. Defeating RMC on Friday, Ben Palmer scored 18 points before fouling out. In the Voyageurs 73-62 win over Queen's the next night, Brody Bishop netted 19, including 3-of-4 from downtown. Bishop added 10 rebounds and five assists. For Queen's, Cam Eby and Jordan Balaban each scored 12 points in the loss.

BROCK AND WATERLOO STAY NECK AND NECK
The Brock Badgers and Waterloo Warriors remain in a tight battle for first place in the OUA West as both teams grabbed victories this week. Brock had no problems over Lakehead, sweeping their weekend series, 79-59, and 73-69. In Friday's contest, Badger forward Kevin French poured in 25 points on 11-of-18 shooting. Saturday's game saw OUA leading scorer Kiraan Posey net 29 points for the Thunderwolves, while Kevin Steinstra scored 19 for the Badgers. French added 18 for the winners.
Waterloo defeated Guelph convincingly 61-46 on Mike Sovran's and Graham Jarman's 11 points apiece. Guelph's Jeff Rosar matched the Waterloo players with 11 points to lead the Gryphons.
MCMASTER FALLS TO WINDSOR
It was a tale of two halves as the McMaster Marauders saw their 24-point halftime lead disappear Sunday as the Windsor Lancers came out on top 84-78. The Lancers outscored the visiting McMaster squad 60-30 in the second half, shooting 50 from the field and three point range in the final 20 minutes. Conversely, the Marauders shooting went stone cold, and couldn't connect on one of the 12 three-pointers they attempted in the second half. Five Lancers finished in double figures, including Matthew Burhart's 18 points. For the Marauders, point guard Martin Ajayi scored 25 in the loss.
HAWKS DOWN MUSTANGS, 63-52
The Laurier Golden Hawks put some distance between themselves and Guelph and Lakehead in the race for fourth place in the OUA West, as the Hawks defeated Western, 63-52. Wade Currie's 31 points, including 5-of-8 from three point land was the difference, sparking the Hawks to their second victory of the week. Rookie forward Bradley Smith scored 16 for the Mustangs.
