LAKEHEAD PULLS EVEN WITH GUELPH
TORONTO TAKES #54 WATERLOO TO OVERTIME
The Toronto Varsity Blues pushed the Waterloo Warriors to overtime, but it wasn't enough to outlast the fifth-ranked team in Canada as the Warriors prevailed 89-84. The two teams battled back and forth, with Toronto gaining an eight-point edge several times. With just over a minute to play in the game, Graham Jarman's three-pointer gave Waterloo a one-point lead. Jarman followed up 40 seconds later with a field goal to put the Warriors up by three. Toronto's Mike Degiorgio's off-balance three-point attempt at the buzzer connected to push the contest into overtime.
In overtime, Waterloo outscored Toronto 8-2 in the first two minutes to seal the victory. Five Warriors finished in double-digits, with Jarman leading the way with 24 points, on 10-of-15 shooting. Mike Sovran scored 16 and collected nine rebounds. Toronto's Kenny Hilborn scored 15 straight points without missing a shot, as he finished with 32 on the night, including 4-of-5 from three-point range.
Waterloo swept the weekend, defeating Ryerson 82-73. The two wins, coupled with Brock's loss to Carleton, gives the Warriors a two-point over the Badgers in the OUA West standings.
