NINE PLAYS TO RAISE A CUP TO
Following the November 3rd University Rush broadcast which will feature the OUA semi final match up between the Guelph Gryphons and Laurier Golden Hawks fans will be able to visit www.oua.ca/greatestmoments, and vote for their favourite Yates Cup moment, presented by Pioneer Petroluems. The winning moment will air on the 100th Yates Cup, presented by Pioneer Petroluems, University Rush broadcast on November 10, kick-off set for 1:00pm.

Laurier Golden Hawks vs McMaster Marauders - 2000
The Marauders trailed Laurier 13-10 in the 2nd Quarter when Mac running back Kojo Aidoo threw a 14-yd TD to quarterback Ben Chapdelaine to help lead McMaster to their first ever Yates Cup with a 48-23 victory.
Toronto Varsity Blues vs Western Mustangs -1953
The heavily-favoured Varsity Blues hadn't given up a touchdown pass all season, but with less than a minute left in the 4th quarter, Western QB Don Getty connected with Murray Henderson for a 52-yard touchdown, giving the Western Mustangs a 12-8 victory and their 6th Yates Cup in 8 years.
Toronto Varsity Blues vs Queen's Golden Gaels - 1933
Varsity’s Jack Sinclair was known as a “One Man Organization” and concluded his remarkable career by accounting for all 10 points – a touchdown, a field goal and a rouge – he also had 4 interceptions, as Varsity defeated Queen's 10-3.
Queen’s Golden Gaels vs Toronto Varsity Blues - 1956
The Golden Gaels trailed 2-1 with less than a minute left in the 4th, when Queen’s legend Ron Stewart scrambled 53 yards to the Varsity 17. Jocko Thompson’s field goal attempt glanced off the helmet of a rushing Varsity defender and wobbled over the crossbar for the 4-2 victory.
Laurier Golden Hawks vs Western Mustangs - 1991
Golden Hawks’ QB Billy Kubas – playing with a separated shoulder - capped off a brilliant 4th quarter drive by diving through the pile for the winning touchdown. Western had a chance to win the game with a field goal, but a botched snap gave Laurier the 13-12 win.
Toronto Varsity Blues vs Western Mustangs - 1965
Toronto trailed the entire game and were down 15-14 with less than 2 minutes to play when Bryce Taylor connected with Gerry Sternberg for a terrific 65-yard touchdown to give Varsity their 22nd Yates Cup championship.
Toronto Varsity Blues vs Western Mustangs - 1993
Varsity trailed 10-0 in the 2nd when QB Mario Sturino pitched the ball to receiver Scott Mitchell, who found wideout Glenn McCausland wide open in the endzone for a 28-yard touchdown, leading Toronto to a 24-16 victory.
Toronto Varsity Blues vs McGill Redmen - 1914
In a game filled with controversy, trick plays and penalties, Toronto’s Laddie Cassells recovered a mid-field fumble late in the 4th and returned it to the McGill 3, and on the next play, ran it in for a game-winning touchdown – Varsity won the game 17-13.
McMaster Marauders vs Laurier Golden Hawks - 2003
12,500 fans were on hand at Ivor Wynne Stadium to watch Brandon Little return a kickoff 109 yards and help McMaster win their 4th straight Yates Cup with a 41-17 victory.
