2007 OUA FOOTBALL SEASON FAST APPROACHING

HAMILTON, Ont. - A new season is fast approaching for football fans. Monday August 20th marked the opening of Ontario University Athletics (OUA) football training camp. With over 100 student-athletes at each camp coaches will have tough decisions to make over the coming days to narrow down their rosters for Labour Day weekend.

The 2007 OUA Football regular season kicks off on Monday September 3rd, with all 10 teams in action. Defending Yates Cup champion Gee-Gees will head to Guelph to take on the Gryphons as Waterloo travels to Toronto for the inaugural game at the University of Toronto Varsity Centre. York will travel down the 401 to Windsor, while McMaster makes the short trek to Laurier, and Queen’s kick of their season in London against the Mustangs under the lights. The eight week regular season concludes Saturday October 20th.

The road to the Yates Cup begins on Saturday October 27th with a pair of quarter-final match-ups, where the winners will advance to the semi-finals on November 3rd. The season wraps up with the 100th Yates Cup Championship presented by Pioneer Petroleums on November 10th, 2007.

The OUA champions will then travel to the site of the Canada West champions for the Mitchell Bowl on Saturday November 17th. The winner will advance to the 2007 Desjardins Vanier Cup on Friday November 23rd at Rogers Centre in Toronto.
