ROC, LANCERS COME BACK TO BEAT HUSKIES AT CIS WOMEN'S BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
The Lancers are making their first-ever appearance at the national championship after claiming the first OUA title in team history a week ago.
Windsor will face the tournament host and No. 3-ranked Regina Cougars in Saturday's second semi-final at 8 p.m. Central Time (7 p.m. Eastern), while the 6 p.m. semi-final will pit the top-seeded Simon Fraser Clan and the No. 4 Alberta Pandas. Both games are live on The Score Television Network.

Saskatchewan has never advanced to the medal round in four championship appearances. The Huskies will play No. 7 Cape Breton on the consolation side of the draw at 3 p.m. Central Saturday.
Trailing 17-10 after the first quarter, 32-21 at halftime and 46-41 after 30 minutes of play, the Lancers caught up with Saskatchewan with 7:02 remaining in regulation when a three-point shot from fourth-year forward Alisa Wulff (Pickering, Ont.) made it 47-47. The Ontario champions went ahead for the first time since an early 6-4 lead, at 54-53, when Roc hit a three-pointer of her own with 3:49 left on the clock.
Windsor never trailed again, ending the game on a 10-2 run, and outscoring its rivals 22-9 overall in the final frame.
"It wasn't that we weren't playing well in the first half, we were taking good shots but they just weren't falling," said Roc, who was named Windsor's player of the match. "In the second half, we just had to hit the boards hard, our shots started to fall and we were able to generate a run."
"I talked at halftime about our intensity. I wasn't happy with our intensity, we were being out-rebounded and we needed to change that statistic and if we could change that statistic we could change the game," said fourth-year Windsor head coach Chantal Vallée, who inherited a 4-18 program when she took over in 2005-06. "I still felt that we were shooting the ball well, our shots just weren't going in, but if we kept working they would start to fall and they did."
Roc was 8-of-15 from the floor on the night, including 3-of-6 from the three-point line, and sank her two free-throw attempts.
Wulff finished with 14 points and seven rebounds, while sophomore forward Iva Peklova (Prague, Czech Republic) scored 10 points and grabbed a game-high eight boards.
Third-year guard Jill Humpert (Saskatoon), the Huskies game MVP, and third-year post Jana Spindler (Port Williams, N.S.) had 12 points apiece in the losing cause.
Saskatchewan shot 38.9 percent (14-36) from the floor in the first half but saw that ratio drop to 30.3 percent (10-33) in the final 20 minutes, while Windsor improved from 29.0 (9-31) to 45.2 (14-31).
In the first quarter, Roc hit five of seven shots from the floor while the rest of her team went 4-of-24.
The Huskies held their biggest lead of the night, at 31-15, with three minutes to go in the first half and were still comfortably ahead, 37-24, early in the third stanza.
Saskatchewan never led by more than five points in the fourth however. The Huskies regained the advantage three times after Windsor tied the affair at 47-47, 49-49 and 51-51, before the Lancers went on their game-winning 10-2 run.
"We were able to build up a lead, but they started to come on in the second half and we started playing tighter and tighter and they were able to take advantage," said fifth-year Saskatchewan guard Amy Prokop of Saskatoon.
