Laurier 3 at Brock 2
ST. CATHARINES, Ont. (October 16, 2013) - The Wilfrid Laurier men's soccer team hit the road to take on the Brock Badgers as they looked to rebound from a tough loss to the Western Mustangs this past weekend. Despite falling behind early in the contest, the Golden Hawks battled back to earn themselves three points in the standings with a 3-2 victory over the Badgers.
The Hawks found themselves trailing after an early marker from Sammy Orlando of Woodbridge, Ont.
Despite the early deficit, the Hawks battled back to tie the game with a strike from Adrian Bucksum Mississauga, Ont., in the 56th minute.
Just minutes later, Sean Malizia of Burlington, Ont., provided a swing of momentum for the Hawks, by finding the back of the net and putting the Hawks ahead. Niklas Bauer of Newmarket, Ont., added another tally for the Hawks late in the game. Despite a dramatic goal in the 90th minute from Orlando, the Badgers were unable to tie it up, as they fell just short to the Golden Hawks.
Daniel Keir of Erin, Ont., put forth a stellar effort, keeping the Badgers in the game with six saves. Brett Harrington of Tillsonburg, Ont., earned the win for the Golden Hawks, with yet another strong
performance on the season.
The Golden Hawks (6-4-4) will be on the road October 19th to take on Guelph Gryphons (8-2-4). Kickoff is set for 3:15 p.m. at Gryphon Soccer Complex in Guelph, Ont.

Ryerson 2 at Trent 2
PETERBOROUGH, Ont. – The undefeated No. 2 nationally ranked Ryerson Rams men’s soccer team needed a goal on the last possession of the game to salvage a 2-2 draw with the Trent Excalibur on Wednesday evening.
Luke Jan (Mississauga, Ont.) opened the scoring for the Rams with his first of the season after taking a great route to a through ball from Cameron Galea-Andrews (Oakville, Ont.) to give Ryerson a 1-0 lead in the 26th minute.
Ryerson took the lead into halftime and through to the 66th minute when Trent’s William Horton tied the game at ones.
The Excalibur played with more energy after getting on the scoreboard and in the 78th minute they took the lead as Kevin Dehizadeh headed home a cross and Trent looked poised to pull off the upset and hand the Rams their first loss of the season.
It wasn’t until what ended up being the last possession of the game that Ryerson was able to penetrate the Excalibur defence, stringing together several good passes before Luka Lee (Toronto) found some space in the middle and fired a thundering shot past the Trent keeper to tie the game up and salvage the 2-2 draw.
The goal was Lee’s third of the season with all three coming over the course of the past two games.
Ryerson (11-0-2) remains undefeated on the season and will close out their regular season play on Saturday, Oct. 19 against the Carleton Ravens at 8:00 p.m. in Ottawa.
