Ryerson soccer and Western lacrosse named Pizza Pizza OUA teams of the month for October

HAMILTON, Ont. – The following Ontario University Athletics (OUA) teams have been named Pizza Pizza OUA Teams of the Month for October 2013.

All Pizza Pizza OUA Teams of the Month will receive a pizza party, courtesy of Pizza Pizza.

MALE: Ryerson Rams Men's Soccer

The Ryerson Rams men’s soccer team went undefeated in the month of October, posting a 5-0-1 record and adding an OUA quarter-final playoff victory. The Rams finished the season as the only undefeated team in the country (12-0-2) and broke program records for both wins (12) and points (38). Ryerson’s first place finish in the OUA east division was a first in school history. With the quarter-final victory on October 27, the Rams went back to the OUA Final Four for the second time in four seasons and they have since qualified for the CIS national tournament for the first time in program history after a semifinal win this past weekend. After their historic season, the Rams were rewarded with three of the four OUA major awards and six OUA all-stars.

FEMALE: Western Mustangs Women's Lacrosse

The Western Mustangs women’s lacrosse team continued their record-breaking win streak throughout the month of October, adding another seven wins to their total and outscoring opponents 108-33 over those seven games. The team finished out October by recording their third consecutive undefeated regular season before claiming their third straight OUA championship title, and running their undefeated streak to 41 games, at the beginning of November.
