KLOOSTRA LEADS LANCERS PAST GRYPHS
In head coach Chris Oliver's first season, the Lancers finish with 12 wins and a winning record to secure the fifth seed in the OUA West playoffs. They'll battle the fourth-seeded Waterloo Warriors on Saturday, February 25th in Waterloo at 3:00pm.
The Lancers got off to a quick start as Kloostra (pictured) had six early points to stake Windsor to an early 16-3 lead. Guelph battled back with some excellent outside shooting from John-Scott Esposito to tie the game at 20-20. The teams battled the rest of the half, with Windsor heading into the break with a 31-29 lead.
The second half was more of the same, as the Lancers got out to an early seven-point lead before the Gryphons battled back to cut the lead down to four, where it remained for much of the half. Guelph never led until they hit a big three with 59 seconds left to take a 66-63 lead.
Down 69-66, the Lancers got a clutch three-pointer from Greg Allin with 12 seconds remaining to notch the game at 69-69. After a Guelph turnover with only six seconds remaining, Steer took the ball from out of bounds at centre court and went into traffic in the lane to score the game-winning lay-up with only one second remaining. The Gryphons couldn't get a shot off as Windsor claimed the victory.
Kloostra had a game-high 25 points and nine rebounds, Steer had 18 points and five rebounds and Allin chipped in with 10 points and seven rebounds.
Trevor Boose had nine points and four rebounds in the final home game of his career. He finishes his career with 1,408 points to become the Lancers' all-time leading scorer and sits sixth all-time in OUA career scoring.
The Gryphons were led by Esposito, who had 20 points.
