WESTERN UPSETS NO. 8 BROCK IN OT THRILLER
Ten days ago, Brock defeated the reigning national champion Carleton Ravens - a team that was on an 87-game CIS win streak.
Mustang Head Coach Craig Boydell received a great effort from second-year forward Bradley Smith, who scored 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds in 39 minutes of play. Smith improved his scoring average to 14.2 ppg - good for 11th amongst OUA leaders.
Second-year point guard Matt Curtis, the 2005-06 OUA West rookie of the year, played all 45 minutes of the contest, posting a double-double - 17 points and 10 assists. Curtis is now second in the OUA in assists with a 5.8 apg average.
Alan Paron, a third-year forward hailing from Arva, added 12 points while captain Kyle Coatsworth, a fourth-year guard from London, netted 11.
Third-year guard Brad Rootes and fifth-year centre Kevin Steinstra, ranked third and fourth in OUA scoring respectively, each had 24 points for Brock in the loss.
The Mustangs (3-10) return to Alumni Hall Saturday for a game against the first-place McMaster Marauders (10-3). The ball tips at 4 p.m.
