The Ravens record is 22-0-4 dating back to their last OUA East regular season loss on September 10, 2006 a 2-1 defeat in Kingston, to Queen's University. The game was played under the lights, at Ravens' Field, for the first time in the 25 year history of the men's soccer program.
Carleton came out strong on Wednesday night and dominated the entire match from opening whistle to closing as they did not let Trent cross midfield the entire first half, outshooting the Excalibur 5-0 and scoring the first half's lone goal at the 24th minute by Matt D'Angelo, (Ottawa, Ont.) on a feed from veteran midfielder Jorge Gutierrez (Ottawa, Ont.) making his Raven return after a year away from the program.
In the second half Carleton continued to pressure Trent as their goalkeeper, Navi Sidhu kept the Excalibur in the game by making several excellent saves during Carleton's 13 shot attack on the Trent net. D'Angelo scored his second of the night at the 87th minute off a great pass from Craig Deebank (Pickering, Ont.).
OUA East All-Star goalkeeper Karl Wasslen (Ottawa, Ont.) earned the shutout/victory in Carleton's net. This was Wasslen's third shutout where he recorded no saves in his brilliant Raven career.
