PANTHERS STRIDE PAST SOCCER VOYAGEURS
A sluggish opening ten minutes by the Laurentian men allowed the Panthers to take an early lead scoring two quick goals. Facing a big deficit the Voyageurs were able to find their groove created many opportunities and putting a lot of pressure on Wisconsin at both ends of the field. It was not until the second half when Laurentian was able to get within striking distance of their Horizon League opponent, thanks to a strike by second year Muteba who made the score two to one. Unfortunately, for the Voyageurs, this was as close as they would get, despite many good scoring chances and hitting a post down the stretch.
Wisconsin added one more goal to make it three to one on a counter late in the game.
“It was a good test for us today against a good team” said head coach Castrechino. “They were able to capitalize on their opportunities and unfortunately, we could not, even hitting a post. We have some work to do and hopefully can get a win tomorrow against Concordia.”
The Laurentian men’s soccer team finish off their preseason schedule against the host Concordia Stingers at Noon in Montreal.
