WESTERN HOSTS FINAL FOUR
SEMI-FINALS
WESTERN vs. BROCK
Both the Western Mustangs and Brock Badgers won their respective divisions and as such required just one victory to advance to the OUA Final Four. The defending OUA Champion Mustangs blanked the Queen's Golden Gaels 1-0 in their quarter-final game, as Jason DeThomasis scored the game's lone goal in the 56th minute while keeper Haidar Al Shaibani posted the shutout. The Badgers also blanked their opponent in the quarter-final, as goalkeeper Chris Cutaia shutout the Laurentian Voyageurs 3-0 in St. Catharines. Laurentian has advanced to the quarter-final round after a thrilling upset of the Guelph Gryphons in overtime on Friday. But their upset streak was short-lived as Brandon Jones' goal in the 23' minute was all that the Badgers would require to advance to the championship tournament. Dan Mazzuca and Phil Hull also scored in the victory.
TORONTO vs. CARLETON
Like the first semi-final, the Toronto-Carleton match-up pits a pair of division champions in a winner take all match-up on Saturday. Toronto eliminated the McMaster Marauders 3-1 in their quarter-final, rallying from a 1-0 half time deficit with three goals in the final 15 minutes of regulation time. Myke Adams staked the upset minded Marauders to a 1-0 lead in the 44' minute, but could not hold on as Toronto evened the score in the 75th minute on a goal by Mike Bialy. The Blues took the lead for good in the 85' minute when Faiz Karim pounded home a rebound before Sean Myers finished the scoring in the 89' minute. The Carleton Ravens never trailed in their quarter-final against the Laurier Golden Hawks as they sent the Hawks home 2-1 in the battle of the birds. Tundi Temidire opened the scoring in the 31' minute before Andrew Park took a Jeff Dennis pass and netted the winner in the 54th minute. Scott Nameth broke up the Carleton shutout bid with a goal in the 90th minute, but the Hawks could not score the equalizer in the dying moments.
