OTTAWA DOMINATES RMC, RYERSON EARNS NARROW WIN OVER LAKEHEAD
The University of Ottawa Gee-Gees (3-1) gave a dominating performance over the Royal Military College (RMC) Paladins (0-3) in Saturday's volleyball action.
The first set of the match was the closest of the three, which ended in a narrow 25-23 win for the Gee-Gees. In the second set, RMC put up a good fight but conceded the set 25-21. The third and final set was controlled by Ottawa as they took it in a one-sided 25-12 score.
The Gee-Gees are now atop the east division at 3-1 with 6 points, while RMC are at the bottom of the east, still winless at 0-3.
Ryerson 3, Lakehead 2
The Ryerson University Rams won its second straight match with a 3-2 (25-21, 19-25, 25-17, 21-25, 15-7) victory over the visiting Lakehead University Thunderwolves on Sunday afternoon.
The opening set was point-for-point before the Rams scored the final four points to win 25-21. In the second set, Lakehead led controlled the last handful of points to secure the tying game with a 25-19 win. The Rams then came back in the third to create a commanding lead en route to a 25-17 victory and a 2-1 lead in the match.
The Rams scored six straight points in the fourth to force a fifth set with the Thunderwolves. Ryerson took advantage of their early lead and scored six straight points once again to win the deciding set by a score of 15-7. With the victory, the Rams improve to 2-1, while Lakehead falls to 2-3.
