MALE: Mark Anthony Kaye, Soccer, York Lions
Mark Anthony Kaye (Toronto) scored four goals, including a hat-trick against Guelph, to lead the undefeated York Lions to three wins last week. The rookie midfielder scored all three goals in the first half of a 3-0 win over the Gryphons on Sunday afternoon and netted his first of the weekend the previous day in a 6-0 road victory over the Brock Badgers. Kaye's total of six goals scored this season is the best mark among all first-year players and he is tied for second overall in OUA scoring.
FEMALE: Emily Brown, Soccer, Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks
Emily Brown of Waterloo, Ont. had an outstanding weekend as she took over the goal scoring lead in OUA. On Saturday against Western, the second-year forward scored both goals as the Golden Hawks defeated the Mustangs 2-1 in a showdown for top-spot in the OUA West division. Brown then carried over her play to Sunday, scoring a hat-trick, including the game-winning goal, as the Hawks upended the Windsor Lancers 4-1. Her five goal weekend gives her nine goals on the season through six games.
