HOCKEY SEASON BEGINS
Ottawa 4, McGill 1
The Ottawa Gee-Gee's scored three unanswered third period goal on their way to a 4-1 win over the home team McGill Redmen ib regular season play. The Gee-Gee's Jourdan Lagace broke the 1-1 tie at 4:19 of the third period followed by a goal by Billy Trantafilos at 12:47. Ottawa's Pierre-Andre Leblanc rounded out the scoring at 18:30 to make the final score 4-1. Mathieu Blanchard made 33 saves for the Gee-Gee's while McGill's Mathieu Poitras made 19 saves for McGill.
Toronto 5, Guelph 0
The Toronto Varsity Blues opened up their conference regular season Saturday by shutting out the visiting Guelph Gryphons 5-0. Toronto's Mike Nason led the way with two goals and an assist as the Varsity Blues scored all their goals while with the man-advantage. The Blues went five for seven on the power play and Goaltender's Bryan Grinell(25 save) and Bryan Dunngan(nine saves) split the goaltending duties for the U of T, preserving the shut-out.
