Banner Season: First day comes to a close at men’s curling finale
CAMBRIDGE, Ont. (C/O the Guelph Gryphons) – Day 1 of 3 is in the books at the 2025 OUA Men’s Curling Championships, with pool play getting underway on Friday (Feb. 7) with a full day of curling at the Galt Country Club in Cambridge. A total of 16 universities from across Ontario made the trip to Cambridge for the 2025 OUA Men’s Curling Championship, with those 16 schools separated into four different pools.
The four-time defending OUA champion, Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks, officially began their title defence with a 6-3 victory over the University of Toronto Varsity Blues in the morning session, before falling 6-4 to the Carleton Ravens to finish the opening day with a 1-1 record. The Carleton Ravens, Waterloo Warriors, Brock Badgers, TMU Bold & Trent Excalibur all sit at 2-0 after Day 1 of the conference championship. Pool play will continue Saturday, with Day 2 action getting underway at the Galt Country Club at 9am on Saturday morning (Feb. 8). The three-day competition, which will culminate on Sunday evening (Feb. 9), will see the top three schools clinch a berth into the 2025 U SPORTS Curling Championships in Lethbridge, Alberta (Feb. 24-28).
