Curlers from Laurier and Carleton earn Pioneer Energy OUA Athletes of the Week

FEMALE: Jamie Sinclair, Carleton Ravens, Curling
Jamie Sinclair skipped her Carleton Ravens rink to a gold medal at the CIS Curling Championships in Regina over the weekend. She guided her team to a 5-2 record in round robin play before downing Laurier in the semi-finals and topping Alberta 9-4 to win gold. During round robin play, Sinclair curled 70 percent, placing her third among skips.

Skip Aaron Squires of St. Thomas, Ont., was named a CIS First Team All-Canadian after leading the Golden Hawks to a CIS Bronze Medal at the 2014 CIS/CCA Championships last week in Regina. The third year communication studies major took home first team honours at the skip position after posting the highest stats all week of competing skips. His play helped Laurier finish the round robin with a 6-1 record and the bronze medal after losing to Alberta in the semifinals. The third place finish is the highest for the Hawks since winning the inaugural championship seven years ago.
