Crerar, Gratton, Rhooms named OUA athletes of the week
Burlington, Ont. – Briar Crerar, Maxime Gratton, and Aaron Rhooms have been named OUA athletes of the week for the period ending February 15, 2026.
Briar Crerar, Guelph Gryphons, Volleyball
Crerar, the fourth-year left side had a monster weekend in the Guelph Gryphons’ sweep of the Waterloo Warriors, helping guide her side to the No. 5-seed in the OUA playoffs. On Friday night the psychology major in the Gryphons’ four set victory, had 17 total points, 15 kills while making only three errors in the match and nine digs.
The following night, Crerar had one of her best performances of the season in Guelph’s 5 set victory including securing the final two kills of the match. The Pickering, Ont. native finished with a season high of 23 points, 20 kills and four total blocks while collecting 11 digs. Crerar's return to the lineup in the second half of the season has propelled her side to an eight-game winning streak. In her 10 games played this season, the left side player has scored 122 total points, 109 kills and 89 digs.
Maxime Gratton, Toronto Varsity Blues, Volleyball
Gratton surpassed the 20-point plateau in back-to-back matches versus the Western Mustangs this past weekend, securing his place near the top of the OUA leaderboard in several statistical categories.
On Friday, the Ottawa, Ont. product finished with 22 total points tallying 21 kills and one service ace. He bettered that performance on Saturday with 24 kills, one ace and one solo block for a season-high 26 total points. He combined for 22 digs defensively across the two matches.
At the conclusion of the regular season, he ranks first in total points (340.0) and points per set (4.5), second in total aces (37), aces per set (0.49) and kills per set (3.64).
Aaron Rhooms, TMU Bold, Basketball
Rhooms led the TMU Bold to two wins over the past week, helping the Bold secure the No. 1 overall seed in the OUA playoffs. He recorded 17 points and seven rebounds in a comfortable win over the Toronto Varsity Blues, but his standout performance of the week came in a tight victory over the Lakehead Thunderwolves.
The fifth-year guard from Toronto erupted for 36 points — including the game-winner with just one second remaining — while adding 10 rebounds to complete the double-double. He shot 16 of 32 from the floor
Rhooms concludes the regular season averaging 22.0 points per game, with 483 total points good for second in the conference leading his team to an impressive 17-5 finish.
