2004 FISU WORLD UNIVERSITY 7-ON-7 RUGBY CHAMPIONSHIP
Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) is pleased to announce the Canadian team and coaching staff that will participate at the inaugural 2004 Federation Internationale du Sport Universitaire (FISU) World University Women's 7-on-7 Rugby Championship to be held in Beijing, China, September 15th to 18th.
Team Leader/Coach, Suzanne Chaulk, Head Coach of the University of Ottawa Gee-Gees will head the 2004 contingent. Joining Chaulk are Matt Parrish (Co-coach) and Dawn Marie Sharp (Manager), from the University of Alberta Pandas. The team therapist will be Edison Au, from the University of Toronto.
The process for player selection was completed in early May and the coaching staff was extremely impressed with the quality of the applicants.
\"We have every reason to expect that this squad will be very competitive at the Championship,\" commented Chaulk.
Leading the all-star selection are Kate Hamilton (Edmonton) and Jill Martin (Silton, Sask.) of the five-time defending CIS champion University of Alberta Pandas, as well as three-time all-Canadian Sommer Christie (Wentworth, Que.), from Concordia University, and two-time all-Canadian Kristy Heemskerk (Waterloo, Ont.), from the University of Waterloo.
