01/11/2010 3:29 PM - WINDSOR - The Windsor Lancers women's basketball team kept their undefeated streak alive as they earned an 80-73 overtime victory over the Brock Badgers on Saturday night in Windsor.
With the victory, the No. 2 nationally-ranked Lancers move to 10-0 in OUA play and remain firmly atop the standings in the West Division.
On Saturday night, Windsor got all they could handle from the gritty Badgers (7-3) as they were forced to overtime to claim the victory.
The Lancers held a slim 38-33 lead at halftime before Brock battled back to tie the game and eventually send it to overtime.
In the extra frame, forwards
Jessica Clemencon and
Raelyn Prince were the difference as their size in the post proved to be too much for the much smaller Brock team. Down the stretch, the pair knocked down their free throws as the Lancers hung on for the hard fought 80-73 victory.
For Windsor, Clemencon led the way with 21 points and 15 rebounds while Prince added 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Shavaun Reaney chipped in with 13 points and 10 assists.
CARLETON 91, YORK 43
At Carleton, the host Ravens (8-3) defeated the York Lions (1-10) by a 91-43 count on Saturday.
Carleton's
Elizabeth Roach led all scorers with 18 points, while teammate
Sara Hickman earned a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Jenna Elliott earned 10 points for York in a losing effort. York's losing streak is now at seven games.
WESTERN 83, LAURIER 66
At Western,
Amanda Anderson scored a game-high 19 points to lead the Mustangs (8-2) to an 83-66 victory over the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks (4-6) on Saturday.
Anderson was one of four Mustangs to reach double figures in scoring. Teammate
Katelyn Leddy scored 16 points, while
Rebecca Moss and
Melissa Rondinelli earned 10 each.
For the Golden Hawks,
Renata Adamczyk had a strong effort with 18 points.
QUEEN'S 69, RYERSON 65
At Queen's, the Gaels (8-4) defeated the Ryerson Rams (7-5) by a 69-65 score to help close out the Bartlett Gymnasium era on a winning note on Saturday.
Christine Wallace scored a team-high 16 points, while teammate
Erin Skippon earned a double-double with 12 rebounds and 11 points.
Ashley MacDonald scored a game-high 19 points for Ryerson in a losing effort.
The Gaels will now play their home games in the newly built Queen's Centre.
MCMASTER 87, LAKEHEAD 73
At Lakehead,
Taylor Smith poured in 28 points to lead the McMaster Marauders (6-4) to an 87-73 road victory over the Thunderwolves (6-4) on Saturday.
McMaster's
Taylor Chiarot supported the winning cause with 19 points.
Leading the way for the Thunderwolves was
Tasia McKenna with 22 points.
OTTAWA 73, LAURENTIAN 50
At Ottawa,
Emilie Morasse scored 15 points to lead the Gee-Gees to a 73-50 home victory over the Laurentian Lady Vees on Saturday.
Hannah Sunley-Paisley added 13 points to Ottawa's total.
Laurentian's
Mylaine Mageau scored a game-high 18 points in a losing effort.
The Gee-Gees improved to 7-4 while the Lady Vees fell to 5-6.
GUELPH 59, WATERLOO 55
At Waterloo, the Guelph Gryphons (2-8) picked up a 59-55 road victory over the Warriors (2-8) on Saturday.
Jasmine Douglas earned a double-double for the Gryphons, with 16 points and 14 boards.
Waterloo's
Laura Becotte also recorded a double-double in a losing cause, with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
TORONTO 65, RMC 33
At RMC, the Toronto Varsity Blues (5-7) defeated the host Paladins 65-33 on Saturday.
Erin McNeely scored 12 points, while
Joanna Medri contributed 11 for the Varsity Blues.
RMC was led by
Carolyn Pumphrey who scored a game-high 19 points.
The Paladins (0-12) are OUA's only winless team.
LAKEHEAD 60, MCMASTER 49
At Lakehead, the Thunderwolves defeated the McMaster Marauders 60-49 on Friday.
Lindsay Druery of the Thunderwolves earned a double-double with a game-high 16 points and 16 rebounds.
McMaster's
Rebecca Rewi equalled Druery's total of 16 points.
OTTAWA 79, YORK 50
At Ottawa,
Hannah Sunley-Paisley scored 29 points and grabbed 16 rebounds as the Gee-Gees defeated the York Lions 79-50 on Friday.
Marie-Ève Caouette and
Melina Wishart scored 10 points each for the Gee-Gees.
York was led by
Brittany Szockyj who scored 19 points.
CARLETON 78, LAURENTIAN 59
At Carleton,
Alyson Bush scored 20 points to lead the host Ravens to a 78-59 win over the Laurentian Lady Vees on Friday.
Courtney Smith recorded 13 points for the Ravens.
Katie Goggins scored 17 points for the Lady Vees, while teammate
Lisa Furchner contributed 16.
RYERSON 82, RMC 42
At RMC,
Nicola Cohen scored 24 points and teammate
Ashley MacDonald netted 23 to lead the Ryerson Rams to an 82-42 win over the Paladins on Friday.
Stephanie Stone scored 14 points for the Paladins, while teammate
Carley Lewis contributed 11.
QUEEN'S 68, TORONTO 50
At Queen's,
Katie Guthrie's 24 points paced the Gaels to a 68-50 home win over the Toronto Varsity Blues on Friday.
Erin Skippon of Queen's earned a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Nicki Schutz earned 16 points and 12 boards for the Varsity Blues in a losing cause.
