THUNDER BAY, Ont. - The Lakehead Thunderwolves women's and men's cross country teams will travel to Kingston, Ont. for the Queen's Open. This meet will act as a preview for the OUA Championship meet with most of the OUA schools competing on the same course that will host the championships in three weeks time.

The women's team will only send four athletes to Kingston. The team will be led up front by Liz VanEvery (Gore Bay, Ont.), who is coming off a great performance last weekend at the Griak Invite for which she was named Lakehead Athlete of the Week. She will be joined by Hilary Quirion, Tess Naroski (Thunder Bay, Ont.) and Ellen Ross.

On the men's side the Thunderwolves will be running five athletes. Making his Lakehead University debut will be Thomas McQuade who recently won the Longboat 5 km in Toronto. He should help add some depth to the team up front. Jonas Holmberg (Falan, Sweden), Alastair Brown, Dave Witiluk (Thunder Bay, Ont.) and Dustin Moore (Warsaw, Ont.) round out the men's squad.

Coach Kip Sigsworth is excited about the weekend. "We rarely get to see other OUA schools and test ourselves against them before the OUA Championships so this weekend will be really good for us. The main goal this weekend is to get a good feel for the course heading into the championships."

Lakehead's next race is October 25th at the OUA Championships in Kingston.
