Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks goalkeeper Katrina Ward (Surrey, B.C.) recorded a pair of shutouts over the weekend helping the Hawks take four points on a 1-0-1 road trip. Ward turned aside six shots against the OUA Final Four finalists McMaster Marauders on Friday night, as the teams played to a nil-nil draw. The fourth-year health sciences student wasn’t as busy on Sunday against the Waterloo Warriors, but stopped two shots en route to a 2-0 win and her second clean sheet.

Yann Dika-Balotoken (Toronto, Ont.) returned two interceptions for touchdowns as the No.2 Gaels (2-0) topped the No.6 Marauders (1-1) 31-24 in their home opener in front of over 7,600 fans at Richardson Stadium on Monday afternoon. In the process the Gaels snapped the Marauders 19-game win streak against OUA opponents. The third-year defensive back blew the game open in the third quarter, returning a deflected pass 99 yards to score before returning another errant pass 70 yards to the end zone in the fourth quarter. Balotoken finished with two interceptions, two touchdowns, 4.5 tackles a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
