MALE: Jacob Schroeter (Ottawa, Ont.) – 2nd yr – Queen's Gaels – Soccer
What a weekend road trip to Toronto, Ont. it was for Jacob Schroeter (Ottawa, Ont.) and the Queen’s Gaels men’s soccer team.
Thanks in part to Schroeter, the Gaels swept their weekend series against the Toronto Varsity Blues and the CIS No. 2 nationally ranked Ryerson Rams.
The second-year Political Studies student-athlete scored the first goal for Queen’s on Saturday against the Varsity Blues to even up the game at 1-1 before his teammate Conor Hannigan would add a late winner in a 2-1 victory.
On Sunday, the 5-10 striker followed that up with a goal early in the second half to give the Gaels a 2-1 lead. Schroeter’s goal would be the first of three in a six minute span to give Queen’s a commanding 4-1 win.
In six games this season, Schroeter is ninth in OUA with four goals. Last season, Schroeter led the Gaels with six goals in 12 games and was named an OUA second-team all-star.
Schroeter and the Gaels return home this weekend where they will host the UOIT Ridgebacks and Trent Excalibur this weekend.
