DULUTH, Minn. - The Lakehead University Thunderwolves men's and women's cross country running teams opened up their 2008 campaign Saturday at the fifth annual University of Minnesota-Duluth's Campus Quest meet in Duluth, Minnesota. The meet featured teams from NCAA schools from around the Mid Western United States.

OUA All-Star Jonas Holmberg had the best result of the day for the Wolves; placing fourth in the men's 8 km race in a time of 26:30.0. Top recruit Alastair Brown also had a Top 20 finish in the field of 73 runners by placing 19th in a time of 28:51.4.

Dustin Moore also had a good race placing 24th in a time of 29:11.8. Cole Anderson was 33rd with a clocking of 29:56.2. Josh Smith and Beau Mondesir did not finish. The men's team did not have enough runners to score in the team results due to classroom commitments.

On the women's side; Lakehead's women placed fourth out of nine teams; and Thunder Bay freshman Hilary Quirlon paced the Wolves by placing 13th in a time of 20:30.0. Liz VanEvery was right behind in 14th with a time of 20:42.6. Christina Asmussen was 24th with a clocking of 21:01.4 while Lakehead dual varsity athlete Kaylie Isheroff (also a Lakehead OUA Nordic All-Star last season) was 25th at 21:04.8.

Tess Naroski was 28th in a time of 21:14.4 while Lisa Alaimo was 34th with a clocking of 21:30.8. Emilie Caron was 45th and Melanie Maclean was 63rd in the field of 103 runners.
