UQTR men’s hockey forfeits 20 games due to ineligibility

BURLINGTON, Ont. – Ontario University Athletics (OUA) announced today that the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (UQTR) men’s hockey team will forfeit the results of 20 games over the past two seasons, including their first 13 games from the 2017-18 campaign, due to the participation of an ineligible player.

The eligibility violation was reviewed and verified and, as a result, games in which the UQTR athlete participated in are forfeited.

These forfeitures include seven games from the 2016-17 season, spanning from January 25, 2017 to February 25, 2017, as well as 13 games from the current 2017-18 season. The affected games from this season range from October 7 to November 18. For games that UQTR won during those 20 contests, the final score will revert to a 1-0 loss for UQTR, while scores from all pre-existing losses will remain unchanged. All team and player statistics remain in place with the exception of the ineligible player, who will not be able to play for the rest of the season. UQTR’s postseason eligibility is not affected.

Changes to the standings that have occurred because of this will be reflected in the results.
