Hamilton, ON – The Lancer men's basketball team advanced to the OUA Final Four for the third straight year after an 85-70 victory over the McMaster Marauders on Saturday afternoon in the OUA quarter-finals.
The Lancers will face the winner of the Ottawa-Laurentian quarter-final being played Saturday night in Ottawa.
The first-half offered up the kind of basketball expected from these two fierce rivals as McMaster held a slim 20-19 lead after the first-quarter and pushed it up to a single basket at 43-41 by halftime.
The Lancers began to take control in the third quarter as the Marauders struggled, both with fouls and the zone defense that Windsor threw at them. After 30 minutes Windsor had taken the lead 61-58.
Windsor took control of the game in the fourth quarter as their confidence came through against a struggling Marauder squad.
Windsor's starting five played very well, with all of them in double-digit scoring, led by Alex Campbell with 18. Kahlid Abdel-Gabar contributed 15 points while Evan Matthews and Rotimi Osuntola Jr. each had 13 points and Mitchel Farrell had 10. Top shooter for McMaster was Joe Rocca, who also finished with 18.
