The Carleton Ravens Men's Football team was victorious at Keith Harris Stadium beating the University of Windsor Lancers 21-18.
This puts the Lancers at 5-2. The Ravens record stood at 4-3.
Early in the first quarter after a bad snap and one of the Ravens taking a knee in the end zone, the Lancers were able to mark two easy points.
It was a battle for the Ravens and the Lancers to move the ball up between the sticks to their team's advantage.
Jahvari Bennett broke through a pack of Lancers and earned got into field goal territory for Carleton. The Ravens capitalized and nailed a 26-yard field goal giving them a 3-2 lead.
The Lancers' Beau Lumley caught a 43-yard touchdown pass, his first of the season. The Lancers then led 9-3.
To start off the second quarter, the Lancers got four straight first downs. Things took a turn when the Ravens defence jumped on the ball deep in the end zone. The Lancers then made another significant error and fumbled giving the Ravens a chance to capitalize. Later, the Ravens opted to take a safety. The score board read 9-5. The Lancers took a 12-yard field goal. They were up 12-5. Raven Nate Behar ran in a blocked punt tying the game 12-12 with 2:41 left in the first half. The Ravens also took a safety giving them another point. At the end of the half the score stood 14-12 for the Ravens. This is the first time Carleton has lead since the second week of the season.
The Lancers succeed on a field goal about 7 minutes into the third quarter. Jesse Mills switched in after halftime as the quarterback for the Ravens.
Anthony Malandruccolo potted a field goal.
Carleton's Jahvari Bennett got another explosive touchdown with a 75-yard run. The Ravens again took the lead 21-16.
TSN sportscaster James Duthie was on hand to do the ceremonial coin toss. Duthie is a graduate of the Carleton School of Journalism and Communications. He attended a number of sporting events during Throwback weekend.
The game was packed despite some light rain. Fans were treated throughout the game to performances by Ravens Rhythm.
The Ravens next game is at Keith Harris Stadium is against the Queen's University Golden Gaels on Saturday October 25th at 1 p.m.
