Laurier 9 @ McMaster 3

HAMILTON, Ont. – Game one was a close game until the 7th when Laurier was able to get to McMaster's bullpen and pull ahead. Brett van Pelt threw very well again for Laurier and the Golden Hawks got some big performances from Daniel Apostoli, Brandon Washkevich and Alex Kupchak. Adam Raithby was a force on the basepaths as well.
Andrew Ziedins retired 14 straight hitters after giving up an early run and was the story of the game in this one. A five run second inning was enough to pace the Laurier offense and the Golden Hawks swung the bats pretty well in this one.
"It is never easy to sweep a double-header in the OUA," commented Head Coach Scott Ballantyne. "It requires strong focus all day long and we ask our guys to grind out the day and the results will come. Today was a good example of that as we stuck with it all day, played solid defence and came away with two wins. A lot of players contributed today for us and we continue to improve each day".
