    Alumni Stadium

GUELPH ? Alex Charette took a walk around Alumni Stadium Wednesday afternoon, recalling his time as a Guelph Gryphon football player. The 26-year-old wide receiver and member of the defending Grey Cup champion Toronto Argonauts was prepping for a preseason matchup with the Ottawa REDBLACKS at the venue he used to call home. And it couldn't help but stir up some memories, like when he stepped on the field for the very first time as a freshman and returned a missed Concordia field goal for a touchdown in an exhibition game.

    Rugby Ontario partnership

GUELPH, Ont. ? The University of Guelph's Department of Athletics is excited to announce a new partnership with Rugby Ontario, the provincial sports governing body responsible for the organization of rugby in Ontario. The basis of the three-year partnership, which runs until the end of February 2021, includes a facility-based partnership, giving Rugby Ontario access to University of Guelph facilities at discounted rates for various games, practices and camps including the Gryphon Fieldhouse, gymnasium, weight room, classroom space as well as both the turf and natural grass fields. The partnership, which offers Rugby Ontario additional opportunities for priority hosting of provincial and national championships, will also aim to grow and develop a strong competition structure for the Ontario Jr. Blues program.
  • Tom Dimitroff Honoured at the Gryphon Football Pavilion

    Dimitroff dedication June 2, 2018

GUELPH ? Tom Dimitroff Sr was an architect of one of the greatest periods in the history of Guelph Gryphon football. When the native of Barberton, Ohio came to the University of Guelph campus in 1979, he brought experience and most importantly, a change of culture. His message was easy to grasp ? "it's all about the team." And with a new leader putting his stamp on the program, the Gryphons began to emerge as a national power. Many of the players from the 1983 team, the coach's final season, were fixtures on the 1984 Gryphons who would capture the only Vanier Cup in school history.
