174 – The Queen’s Gaels Football team, after picking up the homecoming victory (52-34) over the York Lions this past weekend, has now won three straight games to bring their record to 3-4. In establishing this winning streak, they have catapulted themselves back into the postseason conversation and have done so in convincing offensive fashion – totaling 174 combined points during the stretch.

144 – In earning her second career OUA championship individual title, U of T golfer Laura Upenieks shot an outstanding 144 (71, 73). The mark earned the Etobicoke native a new OUA record, besting the previous two round total of 147 (Waterloo’s Devon Rizzo, 2013) and setting her apart from the field by a whopping 13 strokes (another record-setting mark for championship play).

88 – uOttawa Gee-Gees kicker Lewis Ward tallied four field goals in the team’s 40-30 win over the Waterloo Warriors, but the first of them carried a little more weight. Ward’s 15-yard field goal helped him set a new OUA record with his 88th career made field goal.

24 – With their semifinal win over the York Lions, the Guelph Gryphons Women’s Rugby Team punched their ticket to the OUA championship fixture. In doing so, they have also guaranteed themselves an OUA medal for a 24th straight season; a streak that also includes gold in six of the last eight championships.

20:45 – In the inaugural running of McMaster’s Marauder Bayfront Open (7km), it was fifth year veteran Jeff Tweedle who took home the gold in front of the hometown crowd in a time of 20:45, a pace that earned him the win by a seven second margin.

8 – After a whirlwind weekend of OUA football action, a total of eight teams have a chance at making the playoffs. Of the eight teams who have a shot at playing postseason ball, only the top seeded Western Mustangs have clinched their ranking, with the potential for a great deal of movement amongst the following seven squads.

1 – The UOIT Women’s Soccer team has claimed the top spot in the OUA’s Eastern Conference after their 0-0 draw against the Gee-Gees. It is the second straight season that the Ridgebacks have earned the No. 1 spot, and the team was also able to extend their point streak to 14 games in the process.
