OTTAWA (CIS) – Soccer players Kiyani Johnson from York University and Erik Petrovic from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology are the ArcelorMittal Dofasco CIS female and male athletes of the week for the period ending Sept. 7, 2015.

Johnson, a first-year psychology student from Markham, Ont., scored three goals in two games on Labour Day weekend to help the Lions improve to 3-0 in conference play and earn a spot in the national Top-10 rankings, in 10th position. On Saturday, the rookie striker entered the contest after halftime and struck in the 70th and 82nd minutes in a 7-1 victory against Brock. The following day, Johnson once again joined the action after the break and tallied the game-winner in the 72nd minute as York edged Windsor 2-1.

Ottawa rugby player Irene Patrinos and Manitoba soccer player Bruna Mavignier were also nominated for the women's award.

With his team trailing 1-0 early, the 6-foot-2 midfielder evened the score at the 25-minute mark before potting his second of the match in the 53rd minute for a 3-1 lead.
